3 Brushing Mistakes That Could Harm Your Oral Health

Brush 2-3 times a day. It’s a basic oral care step, right? Even though it’s quite simple, many people still don’t do it right. The following are just some of the brushing mistakes that could end up doing more harm than good:

1. Not brushing your teeth long enough.

Being in a rush to brush your teeth might not lead to a thorough cleaning. Ideally, you should brush for 2-3 minutes to clean your teeth properly. Anything shorter than that will not be enough to prevent the formation of biofilm on the teeth. So, make sure you use a timer to ensure that you are brushing long enough.

2. Aggressively brushing your teeth.

Aggressive brushing will hurt your gums if you are not careful. It will also wear out your enamel faster. So while it’s important to apply a bit of pressure when brushing to make sure that those stains on the surface of the teeth will be removed properly, it’s also imperative that you are gentle enough to avoid hurting your gums.

3. Brushing immediately after eating.

Your enamel is still weak from the acids of the food you ate. Give it a bit of time to go back to normal before brushing.

Don’t forget to visit your dentist in Coquitlam regularly. Visiting your dentist in Coquitlam twice a year can help you keep your teeth strong and healthy. You can go to clinics like Ace Dental Centres for all your oral care needs. Preventing oral health problems from occurring start with these two basic care steps.
